Message from
Our President

Welcome!

Our chapter was founded on June 10, 1950 and ever since that time, members have worked throughout the Westchester County community and beyond – serving people of African descent through programs centered on health, economic empowerment, education and civil rights.
I am delighted to be serving as the current chapter president. As my second term draws to an end, our chapter has a busy few months ahead. Our 48th Eastern Area Conference takes place in New York City next month. A few weeks later, our chapter will host a wonderful gala to celebrate an auspicious milestone – our 75th anniversary! Following that, we will have a Scholarship Awards Reception for high school seniors, a Year-End Celebration for the high school students in our Young Achievers mentoring program and an installation of new officers who will lead the chapter into the next term.

In the past few months we have pored over boxes in storage, looking at old pictures, awards, and other memorabilia. At our anniversary gala, we want to showcase key items from our archives. We want to remind our members, our friends and our community of what this chapter has done over the past 75 years. We've partnered with many community organizations as well as national and international entities. We've weathered cultural and political evolutions and revolutions, local and global economic upheaval, and most recently - a global pandemic that actually stopped us all in our tracks. Through it all, our chapter has continued to do its work and adapt to the changing environment we live in and the community we serve.

Our chapter consists of almost 40 active members, many of whom have been Links for over a decade. It is important for us to move forward but also look back to learn and remember our history. That knowledge will power us forward. Especially in this time of national upheaval.

Programming is a cornerstone of our organization. As we create and implement our programs to serve the community, we work closely together, forging strong bonds of friendship with each other. This is how our organization came to be and it is how it will continue into the future.

Please have a look around our site, contact us with questions and join us for future events and programs.
Sincerely,
Hillary A. Fleming
